Mohican School in the Out-of-Doors is an outdoor environmental learning center located in southern Richland County near Butler Ohio. The school has residential, field trip, and summer programs for students from around Ohio. The school was founded in 1961 and has served over 200,000 students in that time. The school's mission statement is," Mohican School in the Out-of Doors, Inc., champions environmental stewardship and is committed to prividing a unique understanding of the interrelatedness of the natural environment emphasizing outdoor cooperative learning in a community-centered setting."
The primary source of funds for the school comes from student tuition, grants, and donations. The Environmental Learning Center was funded with grants and loans from various foundations and the USDA. The funds raised from the annual appeal help to support our operating budget and keep tuition costs as low as possible.
